JONAH AND THE WHALE was inspired by two true crimes (influenced might be a better word): the Schuessler-Peterson murders in Chicago in 1955 and the West Memphis Three case, where three boys were murdered in 1993 in Arkansas. The three boys element, together with the fascinating contexts behind both crimes, got me imagining a time-travel motif. What if it was the same killer involved in both crimes? From this, a different kind of story started to take shape which led me to the plot for JONAH AND THE WHALE.
